Main Menu

Main Menu provides access to all Gaviri PocketSearch® great features and options and highly conforms to standard application's menu. There are several menu items available listed below:

Main Menu

Main Menu options for Mac OS X users are different.

Files

  • Install To Other Device
  • This menu option installs our application to different location (no matter whether it is hard drive or portable device). This option is useful if you want to install application elsewhere without bothering with installation file, registration information and downloaded updates. Such information is automatically copied to new location, once you have installed Gaviri PocketSearch® to other device. Please, note, to be able search several devices at the same time you have to purchase "Multiple devices license" or exclude the first device.

  • Check for updates
  • In order to keep our application up to date, please, select this option. It will open default browser and connect to Gaviri homepage where you may check for new updates to download and install. Keeping PocketSearch up-to-date ensures that you get the latest version available.

  • Minimize to tray
  • Our application could be easily minimized and placed to system tray while you are working with other documents. Please, note that it still works in background. To restore it back, simply double-click corresponding icon in the tray.

  • Exit
  • Select the option if you want to close our application.

View

View option lets you customize application's workplace. It has the following options:

  • Advanced

    Toggle Advanced Searching Mode on/off (in the Search Results Panel).

  • Categories Toolbar

    Toggle Categories Toolbar on/off.

  • Show Category Names

    Enable/disable category names in Categories Toolbar.

  • Actions Toolbar

    Toggle Actions Toolbar panel on/off.

  • Preview Toolbar

    Toggle Preview Toolbar.

  • Languages

    Select internationalization language which will be used in Gaviri PocketSearch®. All interface elements and dialogs will be displayed in the language you chose once the application is restarted.

Search

Search menu lets you start the search, select searchable device and sort the results. It houses the following options:

  • Search
  • Select this menu option to start the search with the keyword, typed in Search Toolbar. If no keywords are typed in, all the files found on device will be shown in the Search Results Panel.

  • Next Page
  • Move to the next page in Search Results Panel. Please, note that the number of items on the page could be set in "Preferences" dialog (Tools -> Preferences). This option is disabled if you are on the last searching page.

  • Previous Page
  • Move to the previous page in Search Results Panel. Please, note that the number of items on the page could be set in "Preferences" dialog (Tools -> Preferences). This option is disabled if you are on the first searching page.

  • Sorting Options
  • Here you may specify how the matched results should be sorted. You may sort by relevance (the default option), last modification date and file size. Additionally, you may soft by email priority and restrict output to display e-mails with an attachment (for e-mails only).

  • Searchable devices
  • This group of options lets you select device or drive where you may perform the search. Note that only the drives you have installed Gaviri PocketSearch® to will be listed here.

Categories

This is the list of the categories you may perform search in. You may search trough all categories (the default option), web pages (HTML, HTM, MHT, XHTML), pictures (BMP, GIP, JPG, TIFF, PNG, etc.), texts (TXT, CPP, CXX, JAVA, HPP, etc.), music (MP3, MP4, WAV, WMA, OGG, etc.), video (MPG, MPEG, AVI, WMV, MOV, QT, etc.), office documents (RTF, DOC, KWD, etc.), PDF files (PDF, PS), e-mails (EML) and archives (ZIP, RAR, TAR, GZ, BZ2, ARJ, etc.). In addition, you may add your own categories (Tools -> Edit Categories) in order to personalize the search.

Devices

Devices menu option displays the list of hard disks and pluggable devices in you system. Each of the entries has the submenu with the following options:

  • Select Files
  • This option invokes Search Files To Index dialog where you may select files and folders to index, specify file type extensions to exclude from index database as well as specify various indexing options.

  • Browse Device
  • Click it to open file explorer and view the content of the device.

  • Pause/Resume
  • Pause or Resume lets you pause or resume indexing for the chosen device. If file indexing is switched off, new files (created or copied to device) won't be searched through. Note that this menu option is not available is you haven't installed Gaviri PocketSearch® to selected device.

  • Start/Stop Indexer
  • This menu option lets you start/stop indexing mechanism. Note that this menu option is not available is you haven't installed Gaviri PocketSearch® to selected device.

  • Restart Indexer
  • Click this menu option to restart indexer. Note that this menu option is not available is you haven't installed Gaviri PocketSearch® to selected device.

  • Recreate Index
  • Use this option to re-build indexing database. Note that this menu option is not available is you haven't installed PocketSearch to selected device.

  • Eject device
  • This option safely removes the selected portable device from the system resources.

  • Device Information
  • Get through device information about selected device, specify what devices should be indexed and install Gaviri PocketSearch® in specified device.

Actions

  • Copy
  • Copy all results, selected in Search Results Panel, to the specified destination folder. Note that you have to select all required checkboxes in Search Results Panel to be able to copy the files.

  • Move
  • Move all results, selected in Search Results Panel, to the specified destination folder. Note that you have to select all required checkboxes in Search Results Panel to be able to move the files.

  • Remove
  • Remove all found files. Note that you have to select all required checkboxes in Search Results Panel to be able to delete the files.

  • Resume/Suspend Indexer
  • These two options let you pause and resume file indexing globally for all devices.

  • Recreate Index
  • This menu option rebuilds indexing database for all portable devices.

Tools

  • Edit categories
  • This menu option invokes Category Editor dialog where you may customize any of the existing categories, add new ones, restore to default values as well as delete any category.

  • Start Slide Show
  • Select it to start slide show for the found results. Slide show works for the image files only.

  • Preferences
  • In order to change various options select this menu option.

Help

  • Help
  • Invokes help file you are currently reading.

  • Enter Activation Key
  • Lets you import activation key which will be mailed to you once the purchase order is processed.

  • Buy Gaviri PocketSearch
  • Launches the default browser and takes you to Gaviri home page with purchase information (requires internet connection).

  • About
  • Displays brief information such as version number, license information, home page and purchase URL, etc.
